Dr. Joseph Johnson is Associate Professor of Marketing at the University of Miami and member of the Big Data Center at UM’s Center for Computational Sciences. He has 32 years of experience, divided between academia and industry, in computerization and empirical models for manufacturing, supply chain and marketing. At UM he teaches Marketing Analytics, New Product Development, Strategic Brand Management and a doctoral seminar on quantitative methods for marketing management.
His research has appeared in leading journals such as the Journal of Consumer Research, Marketing Science, Journal of Marketing, Journal of Retailing, and the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, among others. He has appeared on the TV news show Nightly Business Report to discuss his research on how consumer decision making leads to financial bubbles. He has given invited presentations on his work at Cambridge University, Harvard University, University of Florida, and the Wharton School of Business. In 2017, his students voted him the Research Mentor of the Year for his guidance of their research projects.
Nancy Bailey is Chairman of Nancy Bailey Branding, Inc. She founded Nancy Bailey & Associates, Inc., one of the first full-service agencies specializing in brand licensing programs for Fortune 100 companies. Nancy is considered a pioneer in trademark licensing and was the first to identify the concept of brand extension licensing, one of the largest segments of the industry today.
A graduate of the University of Miami School of Business, Nancy’s career began at The Procter & Gamble Company, where she was one of the first women in management. She has held marketing management positions at prominent New York advertising agencies and at Burger King Corporation where she was Director of Advertising, and Director of Kids Marketing.
Nancy was inducted into the Licensing Industry Hall of Fame in 2008, the first inductee for trademark licensing. In 2014, she received a unique Career Achievement Award from The Procter & Gamble Company’s Business Development Unit for introducing trademark licensing to P & G which has grown to be a multi-billion-dollar business.
